The Skiatook Police Department has been an integral part of the city’s history, evolving alongside the community it serves. While specific details about its founding are not readily available, historical photographs from the mid-1960s provide a glimpse into its early days. In 1965, the department was led by Chief Pete Eaton, with officers Otis Guilfoyle and Glenn Nelson serving under his command. By 1966, the team had expanded to include Dispatcher Jerry Swagerty and Officers Walter Spurgeon, “Cadie” Jones, and John Pippin. Over the years, the Skiatook Police Department has grown and adapted, continuing to uphold its mission of protecting and serving the residents of Skiatook.
